When Jennifer Walsh's 5-year-old son got chemical burns from his regular sunscreen last spring, she hit rock bottom.
Beach vacation in three days. Raw, blistered skin. No safe options.
"I was absolutely losing my mind," Walsh says, her eyes filling with tears.
"Connor's skin was so burned and raw from the sunscreen itself.
I couldn't put more chemicals on him, but I also couldn't let him fry in the sun."
That's when a mom in her natural parenting group mentioned something that sounded completely insane.
A sunscreen made with grass-fed tallow that supposedly worked better than anything at Target or Whole Foods.
"I thought she'd lost her damn mind," Walsh admits, laughing through tears.
"Tallow? Like, beef fat? For sunscreen? I was like, 'Lady, my kid needs real protection, not some crunchy experiment.'"
But Connor was suffering, and Walsh was out of options.
"I ordered it at 2 AM after another sleepless night of research.
I figured if it didn't work, at least I could say I tried everything."
